The Foundation Directory Online Platinum (L. E. Phillips Memorial Public Library) The Foundation Center’s Foundation Directory, both in print form and online, provides information on the finances, governing bodies and giving interests of some of the nation's largest grant making foundations. Established in 1956, and today supported by more than 600 foundations, the Foundation Center is the nation's leading authority on philanthropy, connecting nonprofits and the grant makers supporting them to tools they can use and information they can trust. The print version, located both in the nonfiction collection (Oversize 061 F82) and in Ready Reference (behind the Information/Reference desk) is arranged alphabetically by state, and, within states, by the foundation name. Each foundation profile includes the foundation's name, address, financial data, a description of funding interests, the foundation's IRS Employer Identification Number and officers and trustees. Many of the profiles also include restrictions on the giving program by geographic or subject area, application procedures and deadlines and a list of up to ten grants awarded during a given year. Seven indexes are included to assist potential grant seekers in using The Foundation Directory: Donors, Officers and Trustees, Geographic, International Giving, Types of Support, Subject, Foundations New to the Edition and the Foundation Name Index. Available only on Internet workstations at the library, the Foundation Directory Online is the most comprehensive resource for private funding research on the Internet. Included in the database are over 80,000 foundations, corporate giving programs and grant making charities as well as a searchable database of over 500,000 recently awarded grants.
