Library Joins Foundation Center’s National Network

 

Nonprofit organizations and other grantseekers in the greater ChippewaValley looking for funding sources now have access to a valuable new collection of resources at the L. E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire, which has become a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center of New York.

Cooperating Collections provide information, tools and training that can be used in successful grantseeking. At over 350 locations throughout the country, Cooperating Collections offer free access to the Center’s detailed information on grantmakers and how to apply for grants. The Foundation Center’s core collection includes The Foundation Directory Online Professional—profiling over 92,000 grantmakers and 1.3 million grants—Foundation Grants to Individuals Online, print directories and proposal writing guides. Cooperating Collections also hold sessions on how to effectively use these resources and identify potential funders. For more information, visit the library website at www.ecpubliclibrary.info and check the section on foundations, grants and nonprofits. According to GuideStar, a national database of nonprofit organizations, there are over 540 nonprofit organizations in the city of Eau Claire.

 

Established in 1956 and today supported by more than 600 foundations, the FoundationCenter is the nation’s leading authority on organized philanthropy, serving grantseekers, grantmakers, researchers, policymakers, the media and the general public. The library, in cooperation with the Chippewa Valley Fundraising Professionals (CVFRP) and the ChippewaFalls and Menomonie public libraries, has developed a collection of resources featuring materials related to nonprofit management and leadership, board development, best practices, a comprehensive selection of fundraising related materials and much more. For more information on this, check out the CVFRP’s NonprofitResourceCenter on the CVFRP website at www.cvfrp.org Through the Eau Claire Community Foundation, CVFRP recently gave $1,000 to improve the library’s collection on these topics.
